Economics
Our Economics program is fashioned
after the famous London School of Economics. It is aimed to provide a
course in basic economic theory and techniques, to show the
application of practical examples and policy questions, and to
provide the basis for further study of applied economic and policy
issues as well as to undertake more technical theory courses. At the
end of the course, students should be able to discuss economic issues
applying the analytic framework developed in the course, read the
economic policy literatures, and follow current economic debates .
Our Economic students would have a good understanding of the
economics of the consumer, the behavior of firms, the application of
equilibrium theory, the theory of consumer choice under uncertainty,
general equilibrium theory, welfare economics in theory and
application, the economics of imperfect information, be conversant
with models of perfect competition, monopoly, oligopoly, using game
theory , choice under uncertainty, general equilibrium in an exchange
economy and in a two-sector economy, externalities and public goods,
asymmetric information (such as signaling models) . They will be able
to apply the theory to such problems as, labor supply including the
effects of taxes and benefits, savings behavior, auctions, gambling
and insurance, pollution and other environmental issues, education
and work choices under imperfect information
The entirety of the course will
feature macroeconomics, microeconomics, econometrics, American
economic policy, European economic policy, Advance economic analysis,
Economic analysis of Institutions, development economics, econometric
theory. History economics, how theories change, international
economics, labor economics, monetary economics, public economics,
quantitative economic project, and problems of applied econometrics.
At the end of the course, students
will be able to work in any establishment, both private and public
sector including governmental establishments.
